Nokia N95 Slider Gets An Upgrade

... and it's about time too.

It is not secret that Nokia has a lot of problems with the build quality lately, bad choice of materials, cheap ugly plastic with terribly bad finishing and the most importantly construction related problems that cripples their businesses and irritate users as well.

Even worse, phones from their flag ship line are not excepted from this rule, Nokia N95 is the very well known by its wobbly slider, lot of users have a problems and returning a phone to the retailers because of this issue.

Sure, from other hand it is the very first dual slider phone on the world and I guess it is one of the reasons why it is not as perfect as it should be but at the same time it is not excuse for them, cheap plastic rails are definitely a bad choice for the dual slider phone!

The wobbly slider problem was discussed in several forums and some users also attempts to fix it with a “tape fix” but it is not very suggestible as it cause a huge torsion to the weak plastic rails. Also I am afraid that it affects warranty which is pretty important issue when we are talking about phone with a price tag of a 500€ or even more, so strongly do not recommend the DIY fix.

However finally there is a solution on the horizon, Christian from the SW blog sent his N95 to the Nokia Service Point to fix the wobbly slider and discovered that they have put new redesigned rails and that his N95 finally has a rock-solid slider!!!

Just hope that all new phones comes with the fixed slider and new rails. From other hand, early adopters always get screwed and it seems that we’ll have to visit the nearest Nokia SC as soon as possible and ask them about the new better rails and replace it.

Oh well, better late than never.

*Lets see, so I'll have to get my firmware updated, cover changed, slider fixed.... gosh, the having the N95 really takes up part of my life. (but that doesn't mean I dont like it!)*
